Via Afrika Creative Arts Grade 9 Learner’s Book is a CAPS-aligned Creative Arts textbook designed to consolidate and extend Grade 9 learners’ creative, performance, and artistic skills in preparation for the FET Phase.

The book builds on the foundations from Grades 7 and 8 and covers the four main strands of Creative Arts: drama, music, dance, and visual arts. Learners engage with more advanced concepts such as characterisation and performance techniques in drama, rhythm and musical structure in music, choreography and expressive movement in dance, and design principles such as composition, texture, and visual storytelling in visual arts.

The content is presented through structured practical activities, projects, and assessment tasks that encourage creativity, collaboration, and critical thinking. Learners are guided to plan, create, perform, and evaluate their own artistic work.

It is widely used in South African schools for classroom teaching, practical work, and assessment, and helps prepare learners for more specialised subjects in the FET Phase.
